Q78. If I serve God sometimes, and my sin sometimes, how then?

'No man can serve two masters.' Thou canst not serve God and thy sins. God saith, 'My Son, give me thine heart'. Also thy soul and body are his; but the double-minded man is forbidden to think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

Scripture Proofs — King James Version

1

Matthew 6:24

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

2

Proverbs 23:26

My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.

3

1 Corinthians 6:20

For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

James 1:7,8

For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
