Q51. How is the Sabbath to be sanctified?
The Sabbath is sanctified by resting completely throughout that day, setting aside even those worldly activities and recreations that are perfectly acceptable on other days, and devoting the entire time to both public and private worship of God, except for whatever time is genuinely required by works of necessity and mercy.
